Part I — The Third Night It began on the third night after the storm, when the cornfields hummed like distant engines. Clark Kent had already learned what it meant to be different: the way rain slid off him, the way a dog’s howl bent toward him as if recognizing kin. But that night, something else arrived — a rhythm in the soil, a pattern in the stars forming a triangle that pulsed over the Kent farm.
In the landmark 100th episode, Jonathan Kent suffers a fatal heart attack. This tragedy forces Clark to grow up instantly. The final stretch transformed Smallville into a proto-Justice League series. Set primarily at the Daily Planet, Clark finally embraced his destiny. The series concluded in 2011 with a finale that saw Clark finally take flight and don the iconic suit.
To celebrate the show's milestone, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment released the Smallville: The Complete Series 20th Anniversary Collection on Blu-ray. It gathered all . This release highlighted how beautifully the series organizes itself into structural eras—often referred to by the fan community as the "Threes."
The season introduces Doomsday (Davis Bloome), a tragic figure destined to kill the future Superman. Season 9: The Kryptonian Army
Season 6, which premiered on September 28, 2006, saw Clark dealing with the aftermath of the return of his biological father, Jor-El, played by James Marsters. The season also introduced the villainous Red Cloud, who sought to destroy Smallville.
As Clark leaves high school, the stakes become more cosmic. The introduction of the Fortress of Solitude, Brainiac, and General Zod pushed the show away from teen drama into true sci-fi territory. This period also saw the tragic descent of Lex Luthor from Clark’s best friend to his greatest adversary.
