Phex 3.4.2 released
Written by Arne Babenhauserheide
Sunday, 01 February 2009
Today the Phex development group is happy to announce the release of Phex 3.4.2.
This is a minor release, yet it contains some tasty improvements.

The changes since Phex 3.4.0 are:

  • Less wait time for the first connections,
  • Strong leafs become Ultrapeers,
  • Automatic reconnect on network failure.

And a few squashed bugs.

But even though Phex made good progress, we want it to evolve even faster, and so we're searching for additional developers who want to join us in development.

If you want to contribute to Phex, please come into our forums or meet us in IRC via #phex @ freenode.net.

A poll on Your wishes
Written by Arne Babenhauserheide
Monday, 14 May 2007
We just started two new polls to find out into which direction you want Phex to move.
Please take a moment to read through the polls and select your favourite feature.

We've divided the question into two sets.
The first one includes features which can be implemented in half a year.
The second one shows four big items which will take a lot of time and energy to implement, so we need to be careful which direction we take.

Those are big decisions for Phex, and we want to include you into these decisions, so please vote to make your input count.

If you want to add more feedback, or if you want to offer your help, please visit us in the Phex-forum.

Also we're always searching for people who like to help us in shaping the Phex-Wiki into a universal knowledgebase for Phex and Gnutella.

[upd] - Doctor Chat Gyi Thazin -myanmar Video

On quiet nights she would replay a single message she had received long after the credits faded: “You showed us how to keep each other.” It was not praise she sought; it was a map. The video had traced lines between people—between fear and aid, between strangers and neighbors—and shown how simple, decisive acts could reroute a crisis.

But the film’s real triumph was quieter. In one scene, an elderly woman, at first too proud to accept help, watches Thazin bandage her neighbor and smiles, then offers Thazin a woven cloth bundle of dried jasmine—“for your case,” she says—and Thazin takes it with both hands. The camera lingers on the exchange. You can feel the town choosing connection over isolation. Doctor Chat Gyi Thazin -myanmar Video

For Doctor Chat Gyi Thazin, the video was a double-edged sword. On one hand, it brought him a sense of pride and fulfillment, knowing that his life's work was being recognized. On the other hand, it also meant that his humble clinic was now flooded with patients, some of whom were seeking quick fixes rather than genuine healing.

Myanmar has a deep-rooted culture of traditional herbal medicine (Say na khaw). In the "Chat Gyi" video, Dr. Thazin does not dismiss these practices. Instead, she creates a "traffic light system": On quiet nights she would replay a single

Since recent political changes and the COVID-19 pandemic, trust in government-run hospitals has fluctuated. Private healthcare remains expensive. Dr. Thazin presents herself as a "neutral" expert—neither government propagandist nor greedy private practitioner.
