FEL mode is a low-level hardware state that allows PhoenixSuit to overwrite the storage chips directly. Ensure the Allwinner A50 device is completely powered down.
This is exclusive because many low-cost SoCs implement security as an afterthought; the A50’s firmware makes it mandatory and verifiable.
Until more developers take an interest in this chip, or until Allwinner (or its OEM customers) decide to release original firmware publicly, the A50 will remain a locked‑down platform. The “exclusive” in “Allwinner A50 firmware exclusive” is not a marketing term — it is a statement of fact.
The Allwinner A50’s firmware exclusives are not about locking users in—they are about locking reliability in. From Tina Linux’s sub-3-second boot to the hardware-secured CAN bus stacks, every closed-source component serves a functional purpose in industrial and automotive environments.
with the current tablet (is it bricked/won't turn on, or are you looking to upgrade)?
The reason, according to a maintainer, is simple: no one who owns an A50 device has submitted the necessary patches to extend sunxi-tools to include the A50’s USB product ID (0x1755) and required low‑level initialisation routines. As the maintainer put it:
The semiconductor market has long been dominated by a few key players in the high-end arena, but the budget sector—specifically the entry-level tablet market—has become the battleground for Chinese chipmakers. Today, we have obtained an exclusive first look at the firmware for the , the company’s latest System-on-Chip (SoC) designed to bridge the gap between ultra-budget performance and modern functionality.

Hi Yasser,
That would be nice but unfortunately, this doesn’t work. The SCP server on Cisco IOS doesn’t support this. Only option is to use SCP from the CLI.

Hi Rene !
When we upgrade IOS of router what about configuration ? Is it still the same ?
I know my question not sound technically cuz I’m new to Networking, but please kindly reply my question.
Sovandara
Hi Sovandara,
You don’t have to worry about your configuration. The startup-configuration is saved in the NVRAM, the IOS image is on the flash memory.
Here is a lesson that explains it in detail:

Rene,
Any documentation how to upgrade Cisco IOS on dual superversior (Hitless)? ASR903?
